Is Imperial Grip on Serbia Easing Somewhat?

After the 1989 Annus Mirabilis—Berlin Wall falls, Cold War was over, Soviet Union falling apart, reunification of Germany—-President Bush declared the New World Order (NWO): The US led unipolar world, which amounted to Pax Americana after dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. In 1992, Francis Fukuyama added the philosophical dimension by authoring The End of History and the Last Man, which argued that the progression of human history, as a struggle between ideologies, is largely at an end with the world settling on liberal democracies and free market capitalism of the West and its lifestyle. However, in his subsequent 1995 book Trust: Social Values and Creation of Prosperity, he modified his views to acknowledge that culture cannot be clearly separated from economics. The Western free market capitalism evolved into the era of corporatocracy as discussed in Chapter 4 of my book Kosovo is Serbia. Furthermore, the NWO added the military component in case democracy and the market economy did not achieve its intended objectives against recalcitrant regimes worldwide. The US at the apex of its power provided military strength, second to none in the world. Preferably the US military power was to be used through NATO, the US proxy.
After the end of the Cold War, Yugoslavia no longer enjoyed the geopolitical importance to the US. The deep-seated economic and social crises erupted in this country. Strategic interests of Germany and the US laid the groundwork for the disintegration of Yugoslavia in addition to the role of external creditors and international financial institutions. Yugoslavia became the NWO experimental ground: democratizations, market economies, wars in Yugoslavia and subsequently Serbia were the first victims of this NWO as eloquently acknowledged in Pat Buchanan writings. Dismemberment of Yugoslavia led to the civil/religious wars first in Croatia and then in Bosnia. The Serbs were blamed and had to be punished as a recalcitrant nation challenging the NWO. Hence, the war option was applied first to the Bosnian Serbs and then to Serbia proper as a part of the Pax Americana. This set the stage for perpetual wars: Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. Some in Washington are now advocating intervention in Syria building on the Kosovo “success model.”
The imperial grip on Serbia has continued even after the ousting of the Serbian President Milosevic, “butcher of the Balkans,” over a decade ago. Two recent events provide perhaps a glimmer of hope that this grip might be easing somewhat. The first event is the election of the Serbian foreign minister Vuk Jeremic to preside over the 67th UN General Assembly. The second event is the election of Tomislav Nikolic to the presidency of Serbia.
NWO and Yugoslavia
In February 2012 Modern Tokyo Times published my article, Maastricht Treaty Anniversary: Demise of Greece, anti German feeling & Crisis Solution. It explained that the Maastricht Treaty which created the defective European Union (EU) also dismembered Yugoslavia. After initially vehemently opposing the French President Francois Mitterrand and the British Prime Minister John Major yielded to the German pressure to recognize the former Yugoslav republics of Slovenia and Croatia, who unilaterally declared independence from the Yugoslav Federation in June 1991 with the full support of Germany, Austria and the Vatican.
Dismemberment of Yugoslavia provided an opportunity for the re-Islamization of the Balkans. In February 1992 the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) demanded independence for Bosnia and Kosovo as well as the division of Macedonia. The US endorsed the Badinter Commission recommendation: Dissolution of Yugoslavia and the demise of the communist dictator Tito’s arbitrarily drawn borders of the six republics. The second stage in dismemberment of Yugoslavia was the joint recognition of the former Yugoslav republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina by the US and the EU in April 1992. The US formulated its Yugoslavia policy: US hegemony over EU, appease Muslims and preserve the role of NATO. Thus Bosnia became the key test for America’s European policy. EU brokered Lisbon agreement was then undermined. David Owen, the EU mediator, characterized recognition of Bosnia as a unitary state as foolhardy in the extreme. In both cases civil-religious wars erupted.
The Serbian minority in Croatia, under the Never Again slogan, couldn’t accept domination by the WWII Nazi supporting Croats who massacred countless numbers of Serbs in barbaric ways. The Serb-Croat war, known also as the Genscher’s war, after the German foreign minister, ended with the UN mediation of former US Secretary of State Cyrus Vance. The Never Again slogan was also in action in Bosnia as well. The Bosnian Serbs couldn’t accept domination by successors to their former pro-Nazi Muslim SS division oppressors plus Alija Izetbegovic’s Islamic Declaration—No peace or co-existence leading to classic Islamic jihad. Bosnian Islamist Izetbegovic was in the pay of the Saudi Al Qaeda operative Yassin Al-Khadi. Joint pan-Islamist terrorist enterprises were created: Iran led, Saudi financed, Al Qaeda infiltrated. Al Qaeda established an important European beachhead against its true enemy, the US, and started planning 9/11.
NWO and Serbia
The former UN ambassador John Bolton who represented America told this writer that the US policy towards Serbia was formulated in 1992 and has been in the automatic pilot mode since. The US abandoned its WWI and WWII ally Serbia and pursued anti-Serbian Balkan policies by virtue of siding not only with Croatia and the Bosnian Muslims but also with Albanians against the Serbs. Regarding Kosovo, President Bush sent a Christmas warning letter to the Serbian president Milosevic.
After President Clinton axed four EU/UN peace proposals in Bosnia, NATO bombed the Bosnian Serb positions. The war ended with the Dayton Accords with Milosevic, described as the butcher of the Balkans, as an indispensable peace partner. Milosevic was then told to resolve the 130-year old Serb-Albanian conflict over the cradle of the Serbian civilization in Kosovo. Resolution of this issue was no less complex than the Israeli-Palestinian one. Since Milosevic didn’t deliver a quick and satisfactory solution, the US, Germany and the UK became godfathers of Albanian terrorism in conjunction with Al-Qaeda, Saudi Arabia and other partners. They supported the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) which was previously characterized as a terrorist organization. Hashim Thaci, the KLA leader, met with Osama bin Laden in Tirana. The KLA’s insurrection from Northern Albania into Kosovo was defeated by Serbia. The US conducted pseudo diplomacy in preparation for the war against Serbia. The US military base in Kosovo was designed. In early 1999 there was a Rambouillet conference, which served as setup for the war. Serbia rejected the NATO ultimatum over the NATO terms for occupying Kosovo, which triggered the 78-day incessant NATO bombing of Serbia which broke seven major international laws.
The war was sold to the public as a “humanitarian war” including lies about genocide (there were 2,000 fatalities on both sides, one third the Serbs). Christopher Hill, then a State Department negotiator, after retirement, admitted that the real purpose of NATO intervention was the insertion of NATO’s troops into Kosovo.
NWO Propaganda Machine
It should be remembered that there is no such thing as history—only historiography. Fully aware of this the NWO propagandists followed de facto this doctrine: Suggestio Falsi, Suppresio Veri (They promote what’s false and suppress what’s true—Virgil’s complaint about the gossips of Rome). Diana Johnstone captured well how this doctrine was applied to Serbia: “The simplistic belief that the Yugoslav wars of disintegration were caused by evil Serbia, imitating Hitler, is necessary to justify NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in order to ‘save the Kosovars.’ This myth must be upheld as precedent for further ‘humanitarian intervention’ whenever the United States and NATO decide to overthrow another recalcitrant government somewhere. Until NATO goes broke, or Western citizens wake up and oppose these endless wars, the Serbs have no chance of achieving the truth or obtaining justice. They can only console themselves with graveyard humor.”
Ms. Johnstone continued: “For Western media and politicians, Serbia serves only one purpose: to be the bad example of ‘nationalism’ that enhances the virtuous anti-nationalism of the EU and NATO. In an era when in EU countries a mere disparaging remark against any ethnic or religious group may lead to lawsuits for ‘incitement of racial hatred,’ the Serbs are there to allow cartoonists, editorialists and film-makers to stigmatize the pariah group to their heart’s content. Serbia’s most prized export to Europe is its ‘genocidal war criminals,” sent to The Hague to feed Europe’s pride in its humanitarian values. So the best thing Serbia could do for western media was to elect …a former strident nationalist.”
Serbia’s UN Victory
The Serbian foreign minister Vuk Jeremic, who served his country for five years and in that capacity was a frequent visitor to the UN, was elected with 99 votes (193 UN members, 190 delegates present) while his opponent the Lithuanian UN ambassador Dalius Cekuolis received 85. Russia forcefully supported Jeremic in this diplomatic competition. Russian support was the key to Jeremic’s victory. There was, however, an additional reason. Cekuolis angered Russia at the General Assembly during the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the WWII end when he said that the war“Didn’t bring freedom to our nation. It resulted in new Soviet occupation and annexation. My country fell under a totalitarian regime. Soviet communism.”The US, Great Britain, Germany and other loyalists supported the Lithuanian ambassador. Interestingly eight EU members supported Jeremic in addition to Latin American and African countries. Lithuania is an EU member, while Serbia is only a candidate.
Jeremic, the first Serb to hold a top UN post characterized the vote as a referendum on Serbia. His active and positive campaign emphasized why it was appropriate for Serbia to preside: “A painful era has now come to an end…Today our nation can proudly stand before the world again. We are a small developing country that belongs to no military alliance or political union.” Jeremic told the diplomats that he viewed his election primarily as a tribute to the people of Serbia. The Lithuanian ambassador campaigned by arguing why Serbia shouldn’t be presiding because of its history. He repeated stale Western propaganda including the myth that “humanitarian intervention” was needed to “save the Kosovars.”
The one-year presidency of the General Assembly rotates among regions, and this was the first contested election since 1991. Typically, a region agrees on a single candidate, but this year Eastern Europe had two candidates. Unlike the 15-member UN Security Council, the General Assembly resolutions carry no legal force. The General Assembly is the world’s primary forum for debates on current issues. It adopts treaties, controls the UN budget and decides on contributions from each member. Jeremic assumes his post on September 18.
Nikolic Elected to Presidency of Serbia
Nikolic’s victory over president Tadic in the May 20 runoff stunned former president Tadic’s supporters in the West, primarily in Washington and Brussels. Diana Johnstone in Graveyard Humor in Belgrade suggested first that graveyard humor is a Serbian specialty. “Serbs just played a little joke on everybody by electing a former undertaker as President.” She makes the point that Tadic spent eight years in office “doing everything possible to please the Western powers that have in return done all they could do to keep Serbia alone and humiliated. Constantly compared to Nazi Germany, Serbs have been subjected to a sleazy imitation of the Nuremberg war crimes tribunal, but no Marshall Plan billions to revive the economy.”
Srdja Trifkovic in Serbian Election: The End of Beginning quoted Winston Churchill following General Montgomery’s modest success at El Alamein: “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” He makes the point that Tadic’s campaign was amply assisted by “the unspeakable…US ambassadress Mary Worlick.” Trifkovic concludes that Nikolic’s victory “is certainly not the end of the global-imperial lethal grip on Serbia. It is to be hoped that it heralds the beginning of its end, but it certainly is the end of the ‘pro-Western’ regime’s four-year-long exercise in self-abasement abroad and ruthless robbery at home.” The robbery includes the regime’s theft of some hundreds of thousands of opposition votes in the May 6 parliamentary elections (close to 7% of all votes cast). Ms. Vesna Pesic, a proven Western-oriented Serbian politician, pointed out to glaring irregularities including the fact that Serbia had 7,026.000 voters with a population of 7,120,666. Ms. Pesic voted for Nikolic accusing Tadic for total usurpation of power bringing Serbia to the same point as 12 years ago.
However, key points made by Ms. Pesic were of no interest to the Western media, which zoomed in on Nikolic’s “ultranationalist” credentials. An assortment of Western media reviews, consisting of over dozen articles, left me with an impression of orchestration in the Kremlin led press style. They parroted Nikolic an “erstwhile ally of Slobodan Milosevic, and later of another war criminal Vojislav Seselj, once a staunch far right Serb nationalist, friend of Russia, but latter-day convert to moderate europhile politics.” They also expressed concern that Nikolic would prefer to “sidle up” to Russia as he once said that he’d rather see Serbia being a province of Russia than being an EU member. Well, how would Western nations feel if they were bombed by NATO for 78 days, would they “sidle up” with those who bombed them? Nobody, however, went as far as the Washington Times and its Croatian-American columnist Jeffrey Kuhner, who obviously suffers from a clinical case of Serbophobia. The title of his column was Did Serbia vote for war? He linked Nikolic to General Mihailovic, who in WWII saved the lives of over 500 American aviators and was the first to rise up against Hitler in Nazi-occupied Europe. In 1948 President Truman awarded Gen. Mihailovic the Legion of Merit. This speaks for itself.
It is a long past time that the Western media discards its anti-Serb bias and simply state the facts. The facts are that the Serbian voters rejected Tadic’s rule as well as his Democratic Party’s 10-year governing record, which brought to the Serbs misery and unemployment greater than that in Greece and Spain. Trifkovic concluded that Tadic suffered the fate of Milosevic. “He became cocky, arrogant, and convinced of his own infallibility. Just like Milosevic, he cut his presidential mandate, convinced he could manipulate the electorate by controlled media and pliant institutions. Just like Milosevic in the fall of 2000, he lost—only one fifth of all eligible voters supported him—because Serbia is still a real country composed of real people…the efforts of Ms. Mary Worlick and her paymasters notwithstanding.”
Election of Nikolic doesn’t necessarily mean that Serbia would abandon its policies of no alternative to the EU membership. As a matter of fact his statement in Brussels, “I don’t even think about the possibility of a better future for Serbia and the Serbs anywhere else but inside the EU,” is deeply troubling to this writer especially now when it is clear that the EU days might be numbered.

Overstatement from Davos 2017. |
Liberal corporative capitalism, for reasons of lowering traveling costs, proposed not to travel to history alone but packed togather with NATO, EU and unipollar World Order. Workers participation has good chances to step in provisionally, buying time for full scale workers selfmanagment. |
