Belgrade Forum is an independent, non-partisan and non-profit association. It was established in March 2000 by organizing the first International Conference titled “International Relations at the Beginning of a New Century” (March 17th and 18th). In the past years, the Forum has organized dozens of international and national conferences, round tables and other public gatherings. In paralel, the Forum nas developed intensive publishing activities. It has published so far about 150 books and publications.
The Forum is a member of the World Peace Council and has established cooperation with many peer organizations in the country and abroad.
Forum promotes ideas of peace, solidarity and mutually beneficial cooperation; equality of nations, states, and individuals based on UN Charter; observance of social, economic, civil, and other human tights based on UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948); the role of UN and International Law Order. Forum supports peaceful and just resolution of all disputes. All countries, big or small, are sovereign in their internal and foreign policies, including sovereignty over their economic and natural resources. Forum stands against any form of foreign interference in internal affairs of other countries, particularly in electoral processes, formation of governments, or in defining political priorities and choosing partners. Forum strongly condemns use of force, threats, subversive activities, abuse of human rights or struggle against international terrorism for promotion of geopolitical strategic interests. Considering that there are no “humanitarian wars” Forum is against military aggressions and interventions under any excuse, against foreign military bases and arms race.

What the Forum Does?

The Belgrade Forum is self sustained association supported by membership fee and friends` donations coming mainly from Serbian Diaspora. Part of income comes from sale of books.   The Forum’s membership comprises academicians, professors, diplomats, journalists, publicists, economists, engineers, writers, artists, entrepreneurs, publishers, military analysts, etc.
Belgrade Forum closely follows and analyzes political, economic, social, security and other major processes and problems, domestic and international. It organizes public tribunes, conferences and round tables. The Forum participates at international conferences abroad and in Serbia with the aim to draw attention of the national and international public to the problems in Serbia, Balkans, Europe and the World, such as, terrorism and secessionism, security and cooperation, militarization, underdevelopment, massive migrations, globalization of interventionism, revision of history and revival of neo-fascism . It publishes the works of its analysts as volumes, bulletins, press releases. Forum’s books cover topics such as: development strategy in volatile conditions and privatization; international terrorism; refugees, displaced people and missing persons; Euro-Atlantic integrations;  foreign policy strategy; intellectuals and reality in Serbia; the ICTY; Diaspora – Motherland bridges; etc.
Forum supports good neighborly relations based upon equality and full reciprocity. It holds that observance of the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality and refraining from interfering into internal affairs of other countries continue to be the fundamental condition of peace, stability and progress, and that the globalization should not diminish the values of dignity and identity of nations.
Sovereign Equality instead of Hierarchy

Internal democracy is inconceivable without democracy in international affairs, and vice versa. It would be a sad future for the mankind if internal one should be based on the principle of hierarchy instead of the principle of democracy! As early as at the low-level economic, technologic, democratic and cultural development, the society chose to discard rubber-stamping and dictate as the means of the retrograde politics. Certainly, there is no rationale to revive such theories and efforts, such as, for instance, is the theory on “limited sovereignty” and the like. For example, which Western European or North American country would accept an open interfering in its electoral process in the name of globalization and “new notions of sovereignty and territorial integrity”?
The Forum promotes unreserved respect for fundamental human rights, such as the right to life, freedom of movement, right to health, education, and employment, freedom of faith, thought and association, as well as for all the other rights set forth under the instruments of the UN, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe. Belgrade Forum strongly condemns any discrimination and double standards, be it in the area of human rights or any other areas, and endorses full observance of both international and national law. The Forum supports fight against international organized crime under the patronage of the UN, efforts in eradication of the root causes of terrorism and equal treatment for all sorts of terrorism, notwithstanding if it, in a given case, affects the interests of a big or of a small country.
Partnership with Chinese think-thanks
In recent years the Belgrade Forum devoted high attention to the implementation of the initiative One Belt One Road, emphasing the role of Serbia, Balkan and Central European Countries (Group 1+16). It has participated at the Founding conference of Silk Road think-thank association in Shenzhen (SRTA) and of the Shanghai Forum 2016. In this regard it is important to note that in May 2016. Belgrade Forum has established new think-thank- Silk Road Conectivity Research Center (COREC) in Belgrade. Founders of COREC are prominent Serbian professors of several public and private universities and public figures. Their views on the New Silk Road Initiative have already been published in important mass media in Serbia, Europe and China. Forum cooperates with China Center for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS), Chinese People Association for Peace and Dissarmament (CPAPD), Fudan Development Insitute (Shaghai) and others.
