It is worth noting also that a large number of relatively independent observers in or near Srebrenica, in July 1995. years, have not seen any evidence of the massacre, including members of the Dutch armed forces that were deployed in the "safe zone". Hubert Wieland, chief investigator for the UN human rights abuses, could not find any eyewitnesses of crimes after five days of conducting interviews on the spot, among the 20,000 survivors of Srebrenica, as they gathered in a refugee camp at Tuzla airport.
