Biography of Živadin Jovanović - President of the Belgrade Forum for the World of Equals
Born on 14th November 1938 in Oparić, Serbia
Completed primary school in Dragovo in 1953 and graduated from the secondary school (gimnazija) in Jagodina in 1957
Graduated from the Law Faculty of the University of Belgrade in 1961
- 1961 – 1964, Legal Officer in the Municipal Assembly of Novi Beograd
- 1964, Attaché in the у State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia
- 1966 – 1970, Vice-Consul in the General Consulate of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia (the SFRY) in Toronto, Canada
- 1970 – 1974, Advisor in the Office of President of the Republic (the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia)
- 1974 – 1978, Advisor in the Embassy of the SFRY in Nairobi, Kenya
- 1978 – 1988, Foreign Policy Advisor in the Presidency of the Republic of Serbia; Secretary of the Republic Foreign Relations Council of Serbia
- 1988 - 1993 Ambassador of the SFRY (and of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) in Angola (Namibia, Sao Tome and Principe)
- 1993 - 1994 Ambassador in the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the FRY
- 1994 - 1998 Deputy Federal Minister for Foreign affairs of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
- 1998 - 2000 Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
- Member in Yugoslav delegations to the MMF Assembly, the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly, UNESCO, UNEP, UNCTAD
- Served several mandates as Member of Parliament in the Federal Assembly of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, in the list of the Socialist Party of Serbia
- 1997 – 2004, held several highest-level functions in the Socialist Party of Serbia (such as Vice President of the Party, Acting President of the Party, and President of the Committee for International Cooperation)
- Initiator and a founder of the Belgrade Forum for a World of Equals (2000)
- President of the Belgrade Forum since 2005
- Author and co-author of several books dealing with politics and foreign policy
- Author of the books “Abolishing the State” (2003), “Kosovo’s Mirror” (2006) and co-author of a number of books published by Belgrade Forum.
- Speaks English, Russian, Portuguese and French
